Involvement in continuing education (management education)

Involvement in continuing education for specialists and managers is an important concern for the Institute’s directors. The exchange of knowledge with people with real-life experience is always a two-way fruitful process: research findings are critically scrutinized and suggestions for further empirical research are made. In addition, such further education activities provide very valuable access to practice. The relevant programs that Andreas Hack and Frauke von Bieberstein are involved in and the modules taught are briefly presented below:

Rochester-Bern Executive Programs, University of Bern and University of Rochester, USA

Rochester-Bern Executive Programs is a foundation that has been cooperating with the University of Bern and the University of Rochester (New York State, USA) in the field of continuing education for 30 years. Its focus is on executive education programs such as the renowned Rochester-Bern Executive MBA or company-specific programs. The Institute of Organization and Human Resource Management teaches in one study program:

  • Company-specific executive education program for the SBB (Schweizerische Bundesbahnen)

Frauke von Bieberstein: Module «Organization and Change Management»

CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) Market-oriented Business Administration, Institute of Marketing and Management, University of Bern

The course provides an insight into economic and business contexts (e.g. between strategy and marketing, organization and processes) and promotes an overall entrepreneurial perspective.

Andreas Hack: Module 5 «Organization and Lean Management»

Postgraduate course Management in Healthcare MAS/DAS (Master of Advanced Studies/Diploma of Advanced Studies), Center for Health Care Law and Management in Healthcare, University of Bern

The course is aimed at senior executives from all areas of healthcare and healthcare policy. It is part of the continuing education program in healthcare, which is run jointly by the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern.

Anderas Hack: «Introduction to Management and Organization» module and «Human Resource Management» module

Executive MBA (Master of Business Administration) in NPO Management, Institute for Association, Foundation and Cooperative Management (VMI), University of Fribourg, Switzerland

The program is a part-time postgraduate course for executives such as directors, (main) executive directors, head secretaries of associations and other NPOs.
