Organization and behavioral economics

Behavioral economics deals with human behavior in economic situations. It is a combination of economics and psychology. It examines situations in which people act in contradiction to the model assumption of homo oeconomicus, i.e. the rational utility maximizer. The majority of behavioral economics research at the IOP is carried out with the help of field experiments in cooperation with companies.

Aare-Lab for scientific decision studies

The Aare-Lab is run by researchers from the Institute of Organization and Human Resource Management (IOP) and the Institute of Management Accounting and Control (IUC). Economic theories, models and questions are examined using controlled laboratory and online studies.

The study participants make decisions within the framework of a clearly defined, specific economic situation. The knowledge gained is used to test new theories and expand existing theories.
